October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Susan G. Komen for the Cure is raising awareness with community members.
Tuesday night, the Orangery hosted the annual Pink Guy Tie Party. Eight prominent community members are chosen to wear a pink tie on the eighth day of every month to raise breast cancer awareness.
One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
This year the group chose eight doctors as their pink tie guys.
"They all deal with breast cancer on a daily basis, they're a little different than just eight prominent men in the community. These gentlemen see breast cancer patients day in and day out in their normal lifetime, in their normal jobs," said Amy Dunaway with Komen for the Cure Knoxville.
Some of our own WBIR family members have been selected as pink tie guys in the past, including Russell Biven and Mike Witcher.
