(WBIR - Knoxville) Medic Regional Blood Center is encouraging residents to help them restore their blood supply in light of Wednesday's horrific crash on I-40 in Jefferson County that killed 8 and injured 14 others.
Medic sent 100 units of blood over to UT Medical Center on Wednesday, according to Christi Fightmaster, Medic's Director of Public Relations.
She said the center had enough blood to help on Wednesday because of everyone who recently donated during the UT vs Florida blood drive competition.
However, she said Wednesday's crash hit their inventory pretty hard which is why they are currently encouraging eligible donors to find a blood drive near them.
A Medic blood drive is scheduled for Friday in Dandridge at Advance Auto Parts from 11 am -6 pm.
