(WBIR - Knoxville) A combination of motorcycles, poker and the Lady Vols made for the perfect match Sunday afternoon. Motorcyclists from across the region joined Lady Vols Head Coach Holly Warlick for the 2013 Champions for a Cause Foundation Poker run to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
Warlick said it was a great chance to ride on a beautiful day while getting the community involved in helping find a cure for breast cancer.
"This is the biggest crowd we've had, credit to Knoxville Harley for getting the word out, and secondly, people coming out. You can get the word out but people have to come out and support it," said Warlick.
The Lady Vols Coach started the Champions for a Cause Foundation along with former Lady Vol and current LSU women's Basketball Head Coach Nikki Calwell. According to it's website, money raised helps support groups such as the UT Breast Health Outreach Program, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, and the Wellness Communities of Tennessee.
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second most common cancer among American women. ACS estimated this year there will be more than 230,000 new cases of breast cancer.
