UT students showed their public pride for Gary Sousa and the Pride of the Southland Marching Band Friday. They painted "The Rock" in his honor.
The university placed Sousa on administrative leave on Monday. They cited him for insubordination.
In recent weeks, Sousa, band members, and alumni began speaking out against officials in UT's administration.
They said the university was cutting costs on band travel and marketing for a UT tradition.
Students responded on Friday. They painted the rock to show their support Sousa and the band with a simple message saying "Forever Pride" and "Thank you."
