It's one day that changes the world. Make a Difference Day , the largest national day of helping others, is sponsored annually by USA WEEKEND Magazine and its carrier newspapers. This year's Make A Difference Day is Saturday, October 26th.

More than 3 million people help 20 million others on this annual day of volunteering, sponsored in partnership with Points of Light. Newman's Own, a longtime supporter, provides $130,000 in awards to select Make A Difference Day projects. Awards will be presented in Washington, D.C., next April.

The people of East Tennessee are known for their strong sense of community and volunteer spirit. So how will you 'Make a Difference' this year? Will you volunteer at a local charity? Is your office organizing a volunteer day? What about helping a neighbor in need?

With help from the community, WBIR is teaming again with the Homebuilders Association of Greater Knoxville and the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors for Labor of Love 2013. We're building the Sertoma Center a new duplex that will house six additional residents. Work is underway and we hope to have it finished in November.

WBIR would like to know how you're making a difference this Make a Difference Day. Tell us how you'll spend the day below in the comments section or visit the WBIR Facebook page.
