The American Chestnut tree could be making a comeback.

The Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum is playing host to two potentially blight-resistant American Chestnut Trees. The American Chestnut Foundation planted the trees Friday morning.

The trees are called Restoration Chestnuts 1.0 the ACF says the trees should be resistant to the Asian fungus known as Chestnut Blight that wiped out billions of trees from Maine to Georgia in the early 20th century.

The trees here in Knoxville are just part of a larger plan. The American Chestnut Foundation is planting the potentially blight-resistant trees in select places throughout the eastern United States.
