(WBIR-OAK RIDGE) The family of David Neusel, owner-operator of Big Ed's Pizza, a landmark Oak Ridge restaurant, announced Saturday that Neusel passed away peacefully at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.

Friends, customers remember Big Ed's owner

He died after "heart and kidney failure due to a virus that settled in and weakened his heart about two years ago," according to the press release.

Funeral plans are set for Monday, November 4 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Oak Ridge.

Receiving of friends will be 4-7 p.m.

A funeral mass will be held 7-8 p.m.

The funeral reception and additional receiving of friends will be 8-10 p.m.

Plans are in the works for a military service on Monday, November 11.

Neusel's wife, Melissa M. Neusel asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in David's name.
