In an effort to keep drunk drivers off the road this Halloween weekend, AAA is offering a ride home for people, and their vehicles.
The Tow to Go program is available to everyone, whether they are a AAA member or not. In Knox, Blount, Sevier, Cocke, Jefferson, Grainger, Union, Roane, or Loudon Counties, you can call 1- (800) 234-1222 if you've had too much to drink and shouldn't get behind the wheel. The program will be available from October 31-November 3.
"This program is invaluable because it brings attention to the dangers of drinking and driving beyond just giving an intoxicated driver a safe ride home on Halloween weekend," said Gerry Gutowski, Sr. Vice President, Automotive Services, The Auto Club Group.
The service is designed to be used as a last resort, and is offered based on availability of AAA drivers and tow trucks during times of high call volume. It is limited to a 10 mile radius.
Halloween is a deadly night for crashes, because of the number of drunk drivers on the road. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.the says 38% of fatalities on Halloween night are caused by a driver with a BAC of .08 or higher.
Anheuser-Busch Wholesalers is a co-sponsor of the program.
"The Tow to Go program is a simple and effective way to help prevent drunk driving," said Kathy Casso, vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility for Anheuser-Busch. "We are proud to join forces with AAA and their team of roadside assistance drivers on this great program that helps to keep our roads safe."
