Nearly 200 local children will have a very Merry Christmas thanks to a shopping spree with a well-known local family business.

Volunteers with Weigel's Farm Stores took over 170 young children on a shopping spree at K-mart Saturday morning as part of their annual "Family Christmas Event'.

Weigel's, which is headquarted in Powell, gave each kid $150 dollars to go on a shopping spree and buy whatever they wanted.

The kids were chosen to go on the spree by the Salvation Army.

"I feel blessed. The opportunity to give back is great. Weigel's wants to be known for giving back to the community and this is just a small way to give back," said Kurt Weigel.

When the Weigel's Family Christmas started in 1999, they only had 7 kids. Now they have between 185 and 190 children to shop with!
