An annual Christmas ceremony paid tribute to victims of violent crime on Monday.
With each ornament on the tree, dozens of families remembered their loved ones. It was part of the fifth annual Remembrance Tree at the City County building.
Family members shared their stories of loss. They say the holidays are a tough time of the year, but also an important time to pay tribute.
They also join together to help make an impact.
"We bond together and work together to try and make a difference. We want our loved ones to be remembered. We want to do better to make the justice system better," said Joan Berry, mother of Johnia Berry.
Monday's ceremony also included bell ringing, and two choirs sang Christmas songs to honor the victims.
