Police officers spend their days keeping the communities safe. On Monday, they did even more, by helping hundreds of kids havea happier holiday.

Families in need got the chance to shop with a cop at the Wal-Mart in northeast Knoxville.

Knoxville police officers and Knox County deputies shopped with families as they picked up presents for their Christmas wish list.

In total, officers helped 300 kids this Christmas.

Parents said the officers helped make this Christmas better for their families.

"It almost brought me to tears because my little girl has a disability. She's epileptic, and I also have a little boy so it's really, really hard. If it wasn't for them, I don't know what we would have done for Christmas," said mother Leigh Ann Graves.

Families thanked the officers for their generosity and help this Christmas.
