(WBIR) A Knoxville attorney said he'll challenge state Rep. Gloria Johnson in the 2014 election.

Jason Emert, who is a Republican, announced Tuesday he wants to represent the 13th district. Johnson, a Democrat, won the seat two years ago and filed paperwork to run again.

Emert said the district is largely Republican and want to represent the area's interest in Nashville.

"I believe that I can offer the people of my district representation that is more in-line with their views and values," said Emert in a release. "Our district needs a strong voice in Nashville that has their genuine interests at heart. We do not deserve a politician who is using her position to stand tall for liberal special interests, agendas, and legislation."
