(WBIR) Events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. started last Wednesday in Knoxville, but the celebration wraps up Monday with a parade and memorial service.

A memorial parade along Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. will start at 10 a.m. in Knoxville. At 11:45 a.m., there will be a memorial tribute service at the Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church. More information about events in Knoxville can be found at www.mlkknoxville.com.

Monday also kicks off Social Justice Week at Carson-Newman University. Students will join Dandridge and Sevierville in MLK Day marches. Many other events are also happening at the college this week. More information can be found at www.cn.edu.

Maryville College is also taking time to celebrate the holiday. Elandria Williams, a member of the Highlander Research and Education Center's Education team, will speak on campus at 10:30 Monday morning.
