(WBIR) Several arrivals and departures into McGhee Tyson Airport have been been cancelled due to a developing East Coast snow storm.

The storm is creating a lot of headaches today for air travelers in the Northeast, which has rippled down to East Tennessee flights

At McGhee Tyson, some flights to and from New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia have been cancelled this morning. If you're traveling, be sure to check the status of your flight.

Airlines have already cancelled nearly 2,000 flights as of 7 a.m., reports USA TODAY. This tally seems to grow as we head later into the morning. Forecasts predict rapidly accumulating snow and strong winds at busy airports from Washington, D.C., north through Philadelphia and Boston.

USA TODAY reported that most big airlines - including American, Delta, JetBlue, United and US Airways - have waived rebooking fees for most travelers flying through airports affected by the storm. Restrictions apply, but the waivers generally allow fliers to make one change to their itineraries without the standard change fees or fare recalculations.
