(WBIR) Fire crews worked Thursday afternoon to control a blaze at an East Tennessee business full of materials normally used to keep fires burning.

Around 11:30 a.m., Cocke County and Newport City Fire Departments, along with the Cocke County Sheriff's Department, responded to the scene of a fire at Lakeway Pallet in Newport.

Fire Chief William Smallwood told 10News the business had been burning wooden pallets in a pit when the wind blew some embers onto a nearby stack of pallets.

He said crews had the flames under control by 1:30 p.m.

In total, Smallwood said a few hundred pallets and some tires were burned in the fire.
