(WBIR) The Tennessee Highway Patrol said it's implementing plans across East Tennessee to effectively handle this week's winter storm. Troopers in the Knoxville, Chattanooga, Fall Branch and Cookeville Districts have had tow trucks remove all abandoned vehicles from the interstates and highways.

Troopers will also be patrolling the interstates on the lookout to help stranded motorists.

In addition, each THP District will have troopers on modified schedules:

  • The Knoxville District will have troopers working 12 hour shifts on Wednesday and Thursday
  • The Chattanooga District will have troopers working 8 hour shifts on Wednesday and Thursday
  • The Fall Branch District will have troopers working 8 hour shifts on Wednesday and Thursday. Troopers will also be coming in sooner during Wednesday's evening shift.
  • The Cookeville District will have troopers working 8 hour shifts on Wednesday and Thursday. Troopers will also be coming in sooner during Wednesday's evening shift.
