(WBIR) A Rogersville man is accused of shooting an ex-girlfriend after he allegedly broke into her house while her two young children early Sunday morning.

Hawkins County Sheriff's Office said Sara Davis, 32, and Ronnie William, 30, were in the bedroom when they heard Rodney Allen Bailey, 31, break into the house on Manis Road through the back door at about 1:30 a.m.

When William went to the bedroom door to check out the noise, Bailey reportedly kicked the door open and stuck Williams in the head with a pistol. Bailey then fired a single shot, hitting Davis in the torso, according to deputies.

After William managed to get the gun away from Bailey, the suspect ran out of house and deputies arrested him.

Emergency personnel took Davis to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. No word on her condition.

Officials charged Bailey with two counts of attempted first degree murder, especially aggravated burglary, two counts of felony reckless endangerment, among other charges.

He's currently in the Hawkins County Jail on a $750 thousand bond. His first court hearing is set for Wednesday.
