Knoxville leaders honored several members of the Knoxville Police Department on Monday for going above and beyond to protect and serve the community.
Chief David Rausch and Mayor Madeline Rogero presented the officer and civilian of the month awards for October, November and December of last year. They also recognized two officers who immediately stepped in to help the family of Officer David Munson when he passed away last October in an off-duty crash.
"You represent our city extremely well. We are so proud of you and it just exemplifies, I think it just is an example of the people that we have working for this city and this police department," said Mayor Rogero.
The Knoxville Police Department holds awards ceremonies to honor exceptional employees about once every three months.
