Update Sunday 3:45 p.m.:
Charges have been filed against the Knoxville woman who authorities said drove her truck through a wall and into a pool at the National Fitness Center on Alcoa Highway.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Melissa Rich, 48, had a strong odor of alcohol on her after the crash. Officers said she also had blood shot eyes and slurred speech.
She told officers she had drank 2 beers and 5 shots of whiskey before crashing into the pool.
Authorities also found a nearly empty whiskey bottle sitting in her truck.
Rich was treated at UT Medical Center and then released into police custody.
The National Fitness Center club was closed on Sunday and will remain closed until the necessary repairs can be made. Members can find updates on when the fitness center will reopen by using the National Fitness Center app.
An official with National Fitness Center told 10News they are glad nobody was hurt and in the meantime, members who belong to that club are welcome to use any of their other locations until it reopens.
(WBIR) A white pick-up truck crashed through the wall of the National Fitness Center on Alcoa Highway Saturday evening and went into a pool.
According to Knox County Sheriff's Office, a 48-year-old Knoxville woman drove her Dodge Dakota through the building and into the lap pool.
Two fitness center employees helped the woman out of the pool.
No one at the fitness center was hurt, but the female driver was taken by Rural Metro to UT Medical Center.
KCSO said officers on the scene say the woman will be charged DUI.
KCSO, Rural Metro and the Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad helped work the incident.
