Sergeant Lowell Russell was intensive care, but posting on his Facebook page as of Friday night.

He wrote on his Facebook page:

"Thanks for the prayers everyone! I'm VERY sore tonight... As I lay here in ICU I'm reminded how THANKFUL that I am to be from East Tennessee! San Francisco is an interesting place to visit but I'll be happy to get back home."

"I've not spoken to the doctor since the surgery, but I plan on seeing him in the morning so I can give everyone a better update. He told my Aunt Linda that things went will."

"I'm not good at sitting still so I hope that they will allow me to walk soon!"

Russell had been in and out of the hospital and rehabilitation since a crash in March 2012. He was in his cruiser when a driver in a big rig fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into his car nearly killing him.
