(WBIR) The U.S. Supreme Court won't hear an appeal from a German family seeking asylum in East Tennessee.

The Romeike family moved to Morristown in 2008 so they could homeschool their children. They fled Germany after the government fined and threatened them for refusing to send their kids to school. The Romeikes claimed they're being persecuted because they want to raise their children in accordance with their Christian beliefs.

An appeals court denied their plea for asylum last year, ruling that the U.S. doesn't grant asylum to every victim of unfair treatment.
