A new playground will help homeless children who don't have access to their own place to play.
For the past two days, volunteers and workers from Home Depot have been building a playground at Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries. Workers for the hardware giant asked how they could give back, and KARM said it needed something to help homeless families.
Workers say just the anticipation was making them excited to help.
"The other day the children were peaking through the windows, they started peaking out. They were getting all excited. Of course we can't let them on until we finish. But, just seeing them, you didn't have to say a word. Just seeing their smiles and just knowing and seeing the anticipation was really heartfelt," said Mike Braddy, manager at Home Depot.
Workers finished putting the playground together Friday, and Home Depot officials say they plan to add to the set at a later date.
