(WBIR) A Knoxville man has been charged with theft and aggravated assault tied to a grocery store robbery in northeast Knoxville.

Knoxville police said Michael Brandon Williams, 35, threatened to shoot a store manager after he stole detergent from the Food City on Asheville Highway at about 10 p.m. Friday.

Williams allegedly pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot when the manager confronted him outside the store. The suspect drove off in a truck, but officials have since arrested him.

Officers said they found a toy handgun they believe Williams used during the crime.
