(WBIR) A Knoxville woman is mourning the death of her best friend.

Sandy Le, 26, died from her injuries after an accused drunk driver drove into a crowd at the South By Southwest festival in Austin.

The crash killed two others and injured more than 20 people.

Le was on life support in critical condition since the accident occurred last week. She died on Monday.

"It's just strange to think that I'll never hear her tell a joke again. She was really, really funny," said Anna Vick from Knoxville.

Vick met Le in high school. They both attended the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science and quickly became best friends.

"She's the type of person where, if you need her, she was there for you. She was there for you in a very honest and supportive way," Vick said.

Le, a native of Mississippi, was living in Austin. According to Vick, the 26-year-old had plans to become a pharmacist.

"I think if there's anything good about this, it's that it's nice to see that so many people loved her and will miss her," Vick said.

Vick plans to attend the funeral; a date has not been set yet.

Prosecutors have charged Rashad Charjuan Owens, 21, from Killeen, Texas, with capital murder in the crash.

A fund has been created to help Le's family.

Those who would like to help can at Fundly: "Assistance for Sandy Le."
