A Knoxville woman is dead and her husband critically injured after their SUV was hit by a car Friday afternoon.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened shortly after 2:30 at the railroad crossing on Ball Camp Pike at Ball Road.
Teresa Davis, 52, was ejected from the vehicle after the impact with the CSX train. She was dead when emergency crews arrived.
Her husband, Jack Davis, II, 58, was severely injured. He was transported to UT Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators said the couple lived close to where the accident happened. A dog that was in the car with the couple was taken by Animal Control.
