The Knoxville City Council approved two plans Tuesday aimed at preventing flooding in areas that frequently see high water.

The first plan would fix drainage and storm water runoff on Cross Park Drive in West Knoxville. The road frequently floods during long periods of rain. The project will cost $3.7 million.

Construction on Prosser Road in East Knoxville will also help alleviate flooding. The $1.4 million plan includes a new storm drain, water line relocation and re-pavement.
