(WBIR) After three years of construction and renovation, Chilhowee Intermediate School now meets new accessibility and security needs.

The school held a renovation celebration Tuesday morning.

Renovations include a new front entrance and office, an elevator, new air conditioning, lights, floors, paint, among other changes.

"This is an older facility, so we felt like we needed to invest a significant level of resources to really get it to where it needs to be to be a modern school house," said Knox County Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre. "To be a learning environment where, you know, our kids can really feel safe and healthy and comfortable in that learning environment."
