(WBIR) Last week, a pair of frisky bunnies on WBIR turned into a viral sensation thanks to a video that received millions of clicks worldwide.
WBIR Audio Operator Tim Koon brought in his two bunnies, Benjamin and Tweek, for the Friday morning news before Easter Sunday. During the newscast, Benjamin climbed on top of Tweek.
Shortly after, the video went viral. It's aired on several national news outlets from The TODAY Show to Special Report on Fox News Channel.
"We're from Ohio and people we know from Ohio have said, 'Hey, I saw your rabbits on our morning show,'" Koon said.
"I'll have to say, this is the pinnacle of a 30-plus career here," Moira Kaye said.
As of Friday night, the video on Youtube had more than 1.2 million views.
WBIR Morning Director Zach Conkey watched the "bunny love" unfold.
"My mind was racing. I didn't know if I should leave them up or take a shot of Joe's baby," Conkey said.
Conkey ended up showing the picture of WBIR Photojournalist Joe Baker's baby, Stella. It turned into the birth announcement heard around the world.
"I don't think it gets much bigger than that," Baker said, while laughing.
Baker hopes to show the video clip to Stella when she grows older.
"The only thing that would make it better is if Stella could have royalties of maybe a dime per view, and it would easily pay for her college fund," Baker joked.
But don't expect any bunny babies.
"She's fixed but he is not," Koon said.
