(WBIR) Knox County Sheriff's Office said it took a woman into custody Monday afternoon after she was spotted driving a stolen car.

KCSO said an officer spotted the vehicle speeding and weaving through heavy traffic on I-40 around 2:40 p.m.

The woman, who was driving, exited on Gallaher View with the officer in pursuit. The chase eventually ended on Papermill when officers boxed in the car and took the woman into custody.

KCSO said the car was stolen around 9 a.m. Monday from in front of the Weigel's on Central Avenue Pike when the owner ran into the store for a few minutes and left the engine running.
