Greeneville police are investigating a double murder and arson that happened in March.

On March 23rd, what officials first thought was arson turned out to be a double murder that was covered up with the fire.

Officers found 78-year-old Elizabeth Cooter dead inside the house and 49-year-old Roger Aiken died later at Johnson City Medical Center. The fire destroyed much of the evidence, but what police did gather was sent to the state crime lab.

"We sent off quite a bit of evidence down to the TBI lab and they're reviewing that and processing it. Hopefully when we get it back it will help us narrow down some of the leads that we have," said Capt. David Crum.

Police say the case is still active and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
