A West Knox County couple accused of beating, burning and handcuffing two teenage boys will not be tried separately.

Monday, a judge denied Jessica Cox and Kenneth McIntosh's request to separate their cases.

In May of 2013, the boys showed up at Farragut High School handcuffed together looking for help.

The boys are McIntosh's biological sons. They say Cox, their stepmother, kept one of them handcuffed to a cabinet for hours without food, beat him and burned him with cigarettes.

A judge also changed the terms of Cox's bail, allowing her to see her biological children under supervised visitation. She still cannot have any contact with her stepsons.
