A judge has dismissed a Knoxville business owner's copyright lawsuit against Knox County Schools three years after he filed it.

Michael Ward argued that he helped design coupon books for Knox County Schools for almost two decades, but was then cut out of the program.

Ward says he helped design the coupon books and recruit businesses to sponsor the book. He also claims to have trademarked the use of the words "school coupons."

A judge dismissed the lawsuit because Ward could not prove that Knox County Schools had actually copied any of his copyrighted material.
