A volunteer group in Tellico Village reached a milestone Thursday in helping kids to have the technology they need to succeed in school.

The Tellico Village Computer Users Club refurbishes old computers and donates them to families that can't afford them.

Thursday they helped their 5,000th student by giving a computer system. It went to Loudon Elementary third grader, Annabelle Lee.

Members of the Computer Users Club say a computer is necessary for a complete education.

"Until they get a computer they have no chance of catching up. We're in the technology age and without a computer in the home, they're lost," said Warren Sanders.

Annabelle says the first thing she will do on the computer is play games, but she will do homework when school starts.
