(WBIR - Knoxville) A picture showing a Navy man going out of his way to help a stranded family is getting online buzz here in East Tennessee.

The picture shows a man in uniform changing a tire for a group of people who were stuck on side of the road. The search for the mystery man led to the Navy Operational Support Center on Alcoa Highway where Navy Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Bryan Griffin admitted to being the man in the picture.

"I wasn't thinking anything about it. I just wanted to make sure those people were ok and was making sure that I got them out of the way," said Griffin.

Griffin's arm tattoo is how several immediately recognized the 30-year-old who's been a member of the U. S. Navy for 10 years. He says it's not unusual for him and his fellow service members to help drivers who encounter car problems along the stretch of Alcoa Highway that runs right in front of the building.

"That's about the fifth time I've done that up there. My commanding officer, Commander Jordan, was out there to put some cones out to make sure nobody was going to hit us while we were trying to get them out of the way. I had a couple of other guys ride by to make sure that I didn't need any help. They were off the road in about 10 minutes," Griffin said.

Griffin said the family had just returned from vacation. And although they were already changing the tire, the family was extremely grateful for the help.

Griffin hopes his good deed inspires others to take a few moments to help those in need.
