About a dozen soldiers are back in East Tennessee after serving overseas.

It was all hugs for happy family and friends as they welcomed home their heroes at McGhee Tyson airport Friday morning.

One mother said seeing her son again was like being back in the hospital the day he was born.

"When they go away you don't have a guarantee that they're going to come back. You don't get those guarantees. So seeing him come through the gate is like the guarantee that God gave him life when he put him in my arms. So he gave him right back to me you know," said Kelline Pickett.

Pickett's son, Staff Sargent Khristian Pickett says he's happy to be home where he can focus on his most important job of all.

"Raise my son. That's about it man," he said. "I'm going to spend all the time I can with him."

The soldiers served in Qatar. They were deployed back in March.
