Knoxville Police said water on the road is the cause of several hours of backed up traffic on Interstate 40 near downtown Knoxville.
Around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, KPD said a tractor trailer full of ice cream hydroplaned and jack-knifed near the westbound 17th street and Alcoa Highway exits.
All but two lanes of traffic were closed for two hours. By 1:00 p.m., only the right lane and shoulder remain blocked.
While the ice cream is being transferred to another tractor trailer, KPD advises I-275 south traffic to use I-640. For access to the Alcoa Highway or 17th Street exits, use the I-40 East exits until all is cleared.
East bound traffic is not affected. No one was injured.
