The Union County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of its own.

18-year-old Andrew Davidson was part of the department's Explorer program and was training to become a reserve deputy.

He was heading home from work around 2:30 Wednesday morning when his motorcycle crossed the center line in a curve on Maynardville Highway and hit a tractor trailer. Troopers say Davidson was driving too fast.

The truck driver was not hurt.

Troopers say no charges will be filed.

Update 7:05 am:

Crews reopened both lanes of Highway 33 in Union County at 7 a.m., following a fatal accident early Wednesday morning.

(WBIR) Union County dispatchers confirmed a crash, just before the Highway 33 bridge, has shut down both lanes of traffic Wednesday morning.

The accident happened on Highway 33 near Hickory Valley Road at about 2:30 a.m. Crews are working to clear the crash and reopen the road, but dispatchers said drivers should expect that stretch of highway to be closed until at least 7 a.m.
