Football fever is sweeping through Rocky Top as the Vols face Western Kentucky Saturday.
(WBIR-UT Campus) Saturday means it's GAMEDAY in Big Orange Country!
The University of Tennessee's campus will become a sea of orange and white, as the Vols go head-to-head against Western Kentucky Saturday.
The game kicks off 12:21 pm, and gates open at 10:15 am in Neyland Stadium. If you can't make it to the game, you can watch it on the SEC Network. Last weekend, Tennessee shut out Austin Peay 45-0. But UT Head Coach Butch Jones said he expects the Hilltoppers to bring stiffer competition to Rocky Top.
"All you have to do is watch a couple clips, and they have your attention. You know they have SEC talent," said Coach Jones in a press conference. "You know, they've gone on the road and played Alabama when they were No. 1. They've gone on the road a played at LSU when they were No. 1. They understand the different venues, and they're extremely competitive - they're a competitive football team. You can see it in the way the play the game - they have a great competitive spirit."
Western Kentucky's Bobby Petrino, like Jones, made a splash in his debut as head coach, toppling the Wildcats 35-26 in Lexington.
The Hilltoppers will be returning to Neyland Stadium for the first time since 2009. During WKU's last match-up, they lost to the Vols 63-7.
Remember backpacks aren't allowed in the stadium, as well as large bags. Purses or bags larger than 12" x 12" x 12" are prohibited as well.
University officials are urging fans to head down to campus as early as possible in order to reduce traffic.
