(WBIR - KNOXVILLE) Horses, cows, and farm animals alike have a new place to go for care in East Tennessee. On Saturday, the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical Center celebrated the grand opening of its new Farm Animal Hospital, Equine Hospital, and Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center.
The public had a chance to look around the new and renovated facilities and check out some of the state-of-the-art animal care technology including an underwater treadmill for horse rehab.
The Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Jim Thompson, said the grand opening was a great chance for everyone to see the services provided to the local community.
A press release from the school said the new facilities were a $20.9 million project featuring more than 85,000 square feet of new and renovated construction.
