(WBIR-Knoxville) Former Tennessee Football Head Coach Lane Kiffin is now on the receiving end of being left out in the cold.
He was dismissed by USC after the Trojans lost to Arizona State on Saturday, 61-42.
And most Vols fans aren't devastated by the news.
Many said they will never forget the way Kiffin left the University of Tennessee.
In January 2010, hundreds gathered outside Neyland Stadium after news broke that after only one football season, Kiffin would leave Knoxville in the middle of the night for the head coach job at USC.
"I think he became a celebrity here in Knoxville. He turned his back on Knoxville and he went for the bright lights of Los Angeles and like a rising star, fell pretty quick," Vols fan Chris Hosenfeld said.
That night, upset fans set fire to a mattress and trash can. Other students took their frustrations out on campus, including spray painting obscenities on the UT Rock.
More than three years later, UT fans are looking back at that rocky time a little differently.
"There was definitely a little smile on my face and... it was kind of like a karma thing. It just made me laugh," UT Freshman Michaela Moyers said.
"I thought of who was going to be out there and first question was, 'Is it going to be Derek Dooley out there?' It could be. They may just keep trying to keep our coaches but pretty happy now that we have Butch," Vols Fan Jeff Brummett said.
Kiffin coached UT for one season back in 2009, going 7-6, taking his team to the Chick-fil-a bowl before losing to Virginia Tech.
