(WBIR - UT Campus) UT's rivalry week heated up early Wednesday morning when someone painted The Rock on UT's campus in support of the Crimson Tide.
The Rock, which students frequently decorate to express opinions, appeared to be painted red and then spray painted with the words "Roll Tide Roll" and "Go 2 Hell TN."
"It's really low for somebody to do that," said UT freshman Landon Duncan.
"Makes me hate 'Bama even more," added freshman Worsham Ward.
Photos of the scene spread across social media as more students and alumni caught wind of the rivalry week attack.
UT student Zack Royster got a photo of the vandalized rock around 7:50 a.m. on his way to class. He said the Alabama quotes were painted over by 9 a.m.
This isn't the first time fans of another SEC school have made their mark on the Rock. Back in 2012, Kentucky fans painted it blue and white to celebrate the basketball team's national championship victory.
By 4:00 p.m. that afternoon, UT fans got their retaliation. The words "deface our Rock, I destroy your swag" was painted on the stone.
