Six Knoxville Public Service Department employees were disciplined Monday for drinking while on the job over the past couple of years.
City officials say the employees helped set-up and tear down public city events. The employees drank while on a break or after the event was over, but in all cases they were still on the clock. The last incident happened in the summer of 2012.
The investigation began a couple of months ago, after allegations were made by a former employee.
Five employees were suspended without pay:
Manager-Alex Neubert, 5 weeks
Employee-Wayne Bailey, 3 weeks
Employee-Nick Andreason, 3 weeks
Employee- Chris Bowman, 3 weeks
Employee- Scott Harmon, 1 week
An additional employee, Jennifer Mays, was docked one day's pay for having a drink after finishing her shift at an event she'd just worked.
