(WBIR-Knoxville) With Tennessee's football season over, Vol fans are focusing on the future. However, they took a moment to reflect on this season.
The Vols were 3-3 when they managed an upset over ranked South Carolina.
"That was definitely Butch Jones' signature win for the year and so it was disappointing that we did not go on and win any SEC games after that," said Roberta Anderson, of Knoxville.
From there, it was four straight losses against elite competition.
"Oh, the schedule was brutal. I mean we played I think seven ranked teams this year," said Mike Bush, of Knoxville.
Still, University of Tennessee fans are sticking with Head Coach Butch Jones.
"Butch Jones has done a great turnaround and I can see us next year, two years, National Championships," Vol Fan Jake Smith said.
After Vanderbilt defeated UT, Defensive Lineman Daniel Hood said this, "We finally have the right coach here and everyone in that locker room believes that 100%."
Coach Jones has tallied 33 recruits so far including Jalen Hurd, a five-star running back.
According to Volquest.com, Tennessee's class ranks second, just behind Alabama.
"You still have to coach them and you still have to win but that's always a great sign. And given what we've had... the drought the last five years, it's what everybody's excited about," said Bill Schmidt, of Knoxville.
Tennessee defeated Kentucky in their last game of the season and were able to avoid eight losses which would have made it the worst season in the history of the football program.
