Hundreds of East Tennesseans dawned lights and bikes to get in the holiday spirit near Market Square Thursday evening for the 7th annual Tour de Lights.

This was the first year the bike parade was completely closed off to motor vehicles.

One organizers offered some insight into the unique tradition.

"When we started it we thought we were gonna go look at the Christmas decorations in the neighborhoods and then we realized people actually like to just be the Christmas decorations, so people enjoy decorating bikes and costumes and coming up with unique ideas," said principal planner Kelley Segars.
