The temperatures may be slowly rising, but the last few days of unusually cold weather in East Tennessee are still causing problems.
Fire departments, along with business and home owners, have been kept busy Tuesday and Wednesday responding to and cleaning up after bursting pipes.
A pipe connected to the sprinkler system at the Knox County Health Department's Teague Clinic, located on 405 Dante Road, burst Wednesday. It will be closed Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10 for repairs. Clinic staff will contact patients to reschedule appointments.
The Knoxville offices of the Tennessee Supreme and Appellate courts and clerk will also be closed until Monday, January 13, after a water main break outside the court building on Main Street.
The building requires a water supply to heat the space and repairs are expected to take several days. Because of this, the Supreme Court has ordered the Knoxville Appellate Court Clerks Office to be closed the rest of the week. The deadline for any documents due Thursday, January 9 or Friday, January 10 will be extended until Monday, January 13.
