A popular eatery on Market Square just got a lot bigger.

The Tomato Head restaurant opened the new front door to its larger space on Thursday. The business has extended into 14 Market Square next door, which was once the Marble Slab Creamery.

The renovation features a new entrance, bar, seating area, prep kitchen and bathrooms. Work is also underway to completely remodel the original restaurant, moving the front kitchen and adding seating for 60 more customers.

Diners can also pick up a loaf of artisan bread made by the Flower Head Bakery.

"I've always wanted to make nice artisan loaves so with the new counter we're able to provide, we're making a Knoxville sourdough and bagettes and so those will be available daily fresh from the bakery," said owner Mahasti Vafaie.

The owner hopes to have all of the renovations completed by mid-March.
