(WBIR-Knoxville) Rivals.com ranks Tennessee football within the top five for 2014 recruiting. Vol fans are thrilled with the results from National Signing Day.
Between early enrollees and Wednesday's signees, the Vols have added 32 players.
Only one Tennessee commitment switched teams. Cory Thomas signed with Mississippi State, but the Vols then picked up Nashville's Michael Sawyers.
"To go 5-7, to have all these commitments early in the process and all these other schools come in late and try to pull them away, for them to stay close and stay together-- I mean it's been really, really cool," said Jayson Swain, host of The Swain Event on Tennessee Sports Radio.
Swain hosted his radio show during National Signing Day at Smoky Mountain Brewery in Turkey Creek.
"It shouldn't all fall on the freshmen, but these guys definitely help the football team moving forward," Swain said.
Vol Fan David Corbin added, "Improvement. As long as we're getting better, brick by brick. We got a good foundation today though."
UT students found it hard to concentrate on their studies on Wednesday.
"Literally, my Twitter feed was blowing up. It was just Vols, Vols, Vols, look who we got and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, why am I in class?'" said Katherine Lotrecchiano, a UT sophomore.
UT Daily Beacon Sports Editor Troy Provost-Heron tweeted more than 100 times for National Signing Day.
"I think it's a great class. It's definitely a great start for Butch. Definitely something that will propel this program forward," he said.
According to Rivals.com, the top five for 2014 recruiting include the following:
