(WBIR) Calls for peace and change in South America rang out through downtown Knoxville Saturday afternoon.
The group SOS Venezuela Knoxville held a rally in Market Square to bring attention to recent problems and violence in Venezuela.
The protest was one of many taking place across the world Saturday after more than a week of deadly violence between protesters and Venezuelan troops.
Andrea Small moved to East Tennessee in October, but said she's concerned about the rest of her family who still live in Venezuela.
She said high crime and inflation rates makes it nearly impossible for most people in the country to save money.
Small said she hopes Saturday's worldwide events will lead to a dialogue toward peace.
There's also an online petition from the worldwide SOS Venezuela group which calls on President Obama to help stop the violence in Venezuela.
