(WBIR) A group of green-minded East Tennesseans spent Saturday improving a high-traveled part of downtown Knoxville.
A beautification mob from the group Keep Knoxville Beautiful shoveled, raked, and planted new life into the Old City entrance at the corner of Summit Hill and Central avenue.
Organizers said the high-visibility area was in need of attention.
"Pride is what we're looking for. We, like everybody in this neighborhood, is very proud of being in the Old City and this is such an eye sore to them so pride is part of it," Bob Graves, Keep Knoxville Beautiful Board of Directors member said.
Graves also noted that people feel safer when an area is cleaner.
He said the group hopes to host several beautification mobs each year and so far they've received nominations for 25 different sites.
