(WBIR - UT Campus) Football Time in Tennessee kicked off Sunday night with the Volunteers taking on the Utah State Aggies.

Rocky Top was drenched in orange as fans decked out in the color representing Vol Nation.

For the first time since 2007, the Vols home opener was sold out. That's 102,455 roaring seats.

Fans credit that milestone to one man.

"I think it's because of of Butch Jones. Butch Jones is doing this. He's reviving the program. He will believe in them. I mean we had 40,000 people at the practice for God's sake. It's like of course it's going to sell out. It's football time in Tennessee," Clint Cunningham said.

"I think they believe in this season. We've got a lot of talent. We've got a lot of experience. I think there's recognizable stars, like A.J. Johnson," UT fan Zach Terhune said.

Tennessee fans get excited to tailgate the first football game of the year.

After the game, we reached out for fan reactions to the big home opener.

"One of the best opening games I think we have ever played."

"This lady right here is from Alabama and she played the best game of her life. She became a vols fan for life."

"It was awesome. I live in Atlanta and should be rooting for the dogs, but go Vols!"

"How long has it been? I was just talking to my sister. It's been five or six years."

For the Vol fans who were not able to get a ticket to Sunday's game, the season opener was broadcast live on the new SEC Network.
